Dr. Gimbo Hyuha

Emergency Physician - Dar es Salaam Tanzania

Gimbo is an Emergency Physician at the Muhimbili National Hospital and faculty at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences – MUHAS in Tanzania. In addition, at MUHAS she is the current coordinator of the Emergency Residency visiting scholar program. Gimbo is an alumnus of the Global Health Leadership fellowship with Afya Bora Consortium (funded by PEPFAR) and Harvard Medical School Global Health Clinical Research program (GCSRT). Her specific area of interest is towards addressing the burden of chronic illness (such as HIV/AIDS, Hypertension and Diabetes) in low-income countries. Since 2020, from the peak of the corona virus pandemic, she has been directing the development of training materials for health care workers and the community that are being disturbed all over Tanzania and Africa in both English and Swahili (local language). Gimbo is a certified trainer in Leadership and Effective Communication in Emergency Medicine, Basic Ambulance provider, Basic Ambulance Attendants and First Aid Training offered by the Emergency Medicine Association of Tanzania (EMAT). She is also a certified master trainer in the WHO-ICRS Basic Emergency Care Course and serves as one of the few Tanzanian government national master trainers and mentors in infectious disease case management, IPC, emergency, and critical care. She currently also serves as the project lead in the NIHR funded Multimorbidity research project for the Tanzania MUHAS team.
